The 2016-2017 Team


Nicole Garcia, Secretary General


   Nicole Garcia is a junior from Evans, GA majoring in Management Information Systems and International Business with a minor in Spanish. This is her third year on the team, but she participated in Model United Nations all four years of high school as well. This year, she is the crisis director for the Bonaparte Family Dinner committee at UGAMUNC and previously had the privilege of serving as the Conference Director and co-chairing the committee for the U.S. Intelligence Community. She is also a member of Phi Sigma Pi national honor fraternity, works on campus, and enjoys volunteering around Athens. In her free time, she enjoys singing, doing Sudoku puzzles, petting cats, or scouting out a new duck for her rubber duck collection.

Vitaliya Peake, Director General


   Vitaliya (Vita) Peake is a senior International Affairs and French double major with a certificate in Global Studies and this is her third year on the team! In the past, she has had the honor of serving as the chair of the GA 4 committee and Co-Chair of the NATO committee and is so thrilled to be serving as this year’s Director General. When she’s not busy preparing for UGAMUNC and traveling to MUN conferences, she serves as an ISA Global Ambassador,the vice-president of the International Affair’s Honor Society at UGA, President of the French National Honor Society at UGA , and a full-time member/choreographer with Prelude Dance Ensemble. In her free time, Vita loves to travel (she had the privilege of studying abroad in Paris, France in 2015), explore Athens with her friends, cook, and spend time with her wonderful Russian-American family !

Alexandria Johnson, Head Delegate


   Alex is a sophomore from Augusta, Ga with a double major in International Affairs and Arabic. In addition to being Head Delegate for the University of Georgia’s Model UN team, she is also the Programming Director for NCNW and a BEST Mentor. When not tucked away in the MLC or class you can find her working in the International Student Life Office, running on trails by the IM Fields, or sprawled across her bed watching Netflix. The one thing that is equal to her love of International Affairs and Arabic is her love of the University of Georgia. Go Dawgs! 

Esther Osinaiya, Chief of Staff


  Esther Osinaiya is a third year Finance major. This is Esther’s third year on the Model United Nation team and 1st year on Secretariat. In addition to Model UN, she is involved with Roosevelt at UGA, Women in Business, and a DJ at WUOG 90.5 FM(a popular radio station in Athens). She enjoys spending hours watching foreign films and documentaries and going to live music shows. Upon graduation, Esther hopes to become a Financial Analyst at an investment bank or Fortune 500.

Cody PyleFinance Director

  Cody is a third year at the University of Georgia, majoring in International Affairs with a minor in Genetics. This is his second year on the team, and this year he was appointed the Finance Director position for our UGA Model UN. He is very excited to have been admitted to two study abroad this summer, one throughout Europe and the other in Japan. He enjoys watching TV (obviously, since he wrote a whole committee on it). He really enjoys playing sports, having played five of them. If you are ever looking for him, you will most likely find him on the couch, with his kitten, binge watching either Game of Thrones or Westworld. If he is not on the couch, he is most likely at a Beyoncé concert crying in the front row.

Megan Gillahan, Conference Director


   Megan Gillahan is a second year International Affairs, French and English Major and will be serving as the Conference Director for  UGAMUNC 2017. This is her second year on the team and she served as the Co-Chair for the OIC committee at UGAMUNC 2016. Aside from her involvement on the Model UN team, she is also involved in UGA’s Model African Union team and works two jobs on campus. Additionally, she spent Summer 2016 studying abroad in France taking advanced cultural/historical, literature and business courses. She loves all things related to MUN and her hobbies include continuously buying books online until her house explodes.

Gloria Pham (UGAMUNC Staff)


 Gloria Pham is a first year at the University of Georgia majoring in Biology and Romance Languages. Outside Model UN, Gloria is a part of the French Community and Supper Club, a newly-formed campus service organization. Outside of class, Gloria enjoys reading, watching foreign films, and travelling.

Logan Siddall (UGAMUNC Staff)


 Logan Siddall is a third year, double majoring in International Affairs and Japanese. This is his second year on the team, having worked as Staff the first year, and is looking forward to continuing his role as a Staff member. Logan loves anything to do with Japan, and after doing his whole sophomore year abroad there, can be found listening to Japanese music and playing games in Japanese to improve his language skills.

Cole McKeon (Chair, GA 1)

  Cole is a senior majoring in International Affairs at the University of Georgia’s School of Public and International Affairs. This is his first year participating in Model United Nations. His family currently resides in Milton, Georgia forty-five minutes north of Atlanta. He graduated from Milton high school in 2012, and immediately flew to Cape Town, South Africa for almost three weeks of travel around the southern cape. When he graduates this spring 2017 he hope to pursue employment in Washington D.C. working for congressional staffs.

Adam David ( Co-Chair, GA 1)


  Adam David is a sophomore Risk Management and Insurance major. He hopes to work in the consulting field after graduation. In his free time, Adam enjoys playing flag football and speculative trading on the NYSE.

Gustavo Cervantes (Chair, GA 3)


  Gustavo Cervantes is a first year Public Relations major from Augusta, Georgia. As well as Model UN, he is involved in the Public Relations Student Society of America and also University Choir. He plans on minoring in Spanish and getting a certificate in Public Affairs. While he doesn’t have lots of time on his hands, Gustavo loves to kick back and relax by watching ASMR videos on YouTube and updating his blog on

Ashley Kalinda (Co-Chair, GA 3)


  Ashley is a first year from Marietta, GA. She is studying as an International Affairs major and hopes to work with nonprofits in the future. Currently, Ashley is a part of UGA’s Red Cross Organization and doing her first year with UGA Model United Nations. She loves the dynamic of UGA’s Model UN team and is excited for the its future endeavors!

Jay Bishop (Chair, GA 4)


  Jay is a third-year economics major at UGA. He competed in Model UN for 3 semesters before transferring to UGA, and had the pleasure of representing both the Kingdom of Bahrain and Iraq at two separate conferences in Atlanta and Houston. While Model UN and schoolwork take up a large majority of his time, he also enjoys going on adventures with friends, reading non-fiction books, and playing video games, such as Rocket League and Overwatch.

Abigail Walker ( Co-Chair, GA 4)


  Abigail is a third-year with majors in History and International Affairs and a minor in Classics. This is her first ever year in Model UN, but she’s never felt more at home. She’s also a member of the Phi Alpha Theta National History Honors Society, and enjoys running, painting and reading. One of Abigail’s best college experiences so far was studying abroad in Rome for six weeks last summer, and she intends to spend another five weeks in Stellenbosch South Africa this coming summer.

  Max hails from Rome, Georgia, and attended the Darlington School. He is currently in his second year here at UGA, and in the process of pursuing a major in International Affairs, a minor in Arabic, and a certificate in Applied Politics. His primary areas of study include counterterrorism, counterinsurgency, US foreign policy, and campaign politics. He has declared a pre-law intent, and is looking towards joining the US military after law school. In his future career, he’d like to play a role in US intelligence and US foreign policy. This is his first year as a member of  Model UN, and hence his first year chairing a committee. In the past, he has worked on several political campaigns, and in one he managed a gentleman’s campaign for County Commission Chairman in Franklin County, Georgia. He currently serves as the Scholarship Chair of his fraternity.  He is his fraternity’s incoming Vice-President, a Houseboy at a UGA sorority house, and is excited to be studying abroad in Innsbruck, Austria this coming July.

Kamryn Lyle (C0-Chair, UNODC)


   Kamryn is from Marietta, Georgia where she attended Osborne High School. She is a second-year student here at UGA majoring in International Affairs with minors in French and Women’s Studies. Her passion is rooted in helping those in disadvantaged areas of her community and helping to provide for her family. This coming May, she will also have the privilege of studying abroad in Verona, Italy through UGA’s amazing study abroad program. Her focus will be on immigration policy. In the future, she’d like to practice immigration law and working to defend human rights on a global scale.

Nils Steinhoff (Chair, EU)

   Nils is an exchange student from Germany and currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in European economics. It is his second year of Model UN at the collegiate level and his first time chairing at a conference of this size. When he is not busy writing background guides for MUN, he likes reading, traveling and learning about new cultures by getting to know locals. Nils is passionate about economic policy and topics pertaining to the European Union (EU). He is über excited to hear all of your thoughtful propositions for the problems in front of you.

Colin Kerner (Chair, EU)


   Colin is a sophomore International Affairs student here at UGA. It is also his second year in Model UN at the collegiate level. Outside of Model UN, he enjoys reading, backpacking, and getting to know new people. Inside of his International affairs studies, he is particularly interested in international economics and human rights.

Matthew Gannon (Chair, African Union)


  Matthew is a first-year student at UGA from Valdosta, Georgia. He is pursuing a degree in Finance. This is his first year on the Model United Nations team, and first year chairing a committee. Outside of Model UN, he is the President of the Mell-Lipscomb Community Council.

Romello Robinson (Co-Chair, African Union)


   Romello (Mello) is currently a 1st year student at the University of Georgia. He is a dual-major student majoring in history and political science, with a minor in philosophy. He is on the pre-law track here at UGA, and aspires to become a criminal/defense attorney. This is his first year ever doing Model United Nations. He is also affiliated with the Black Male Leadership Society and Georgia Dazes, as well as part of the freshmen council for the United Black Student Legal Association. He is very mindful of physical fitness and enjoys to work out at the Ramsey Center.

Jailen Gary (Chair, OIC)


  Jailen is a second year here at the University of Georgia. He hails from Grovetown, Georgia. He is currently majoring in International Affairs and considering adding a Communications major onto that. This is Jailen’s first year chairing a committee at UGAMUNC and this is also his first year being a member of the team.

Mariah Elliot (Co-Chair, OIC)


   Mariah is a second year. She is from Buford, Georgia, and she is currently double majoring in International Affairs and Romance languages with a minor in Arabic. This is Mariah’s first year on the team, but in addition to Model UN, Mariah also works as the Vice President of Finance for CFAC and is a cast member at the Disney Store. She also thinks that it’s important for you guys to know that she especially enjoys traveling, sleeping and pie. In. that. order.

Julien Gelly (Chair, Dr. Who’s Companions)


   Julien is a sophomore at the University of Georgia, majoring in Economics and minoring in Philosophy and Chinese. He speaks French, challenge him if you dare… Additionally, he enjoys movies, especially good ones. If ever you need to look for him, catch him out by the Philosophy benches or kicking a soccer ball around. Although he have watched Doctor Who, his heart belongs to The Wheel of Time series and The Star Wars Expanded Universe, (DO NOT ask him about the member-berry addled Abrams remake).

Caroline Frankenfeld (Co-Chair, Dr. Who’s Companions)


  Caroline Frankenfeld is a first year from Austin, Texas.  She is studying International Affairs with a minor in Spanish.  She has been an exchange student in Germany, Costa Rica, and Spain, so the Spanish culture lies especially close to her heart.  Outside of Model United Nations, Caroline is a part of the Chi Omega sorority, the SPIA Student Union, and can be found watching the office or dancing around.  Caroline hopes to one day live in DC or abroad, but for now, she is very happy to be a dawg and call Athens her home.  Caroline is thrilled and forever grateful to be a part of the Model UN team filled with such amazing and inspiring people. 

Cityana Demase (Chair Director, Bonaparte Family Dinner)


   Cityana is a third year international affairs major with a focus in Middle Eastern foreign policies. She joined Model United Nations because she finds debating and thinking in different perspectives enlightening. She believes it is so easy to become immersed in each character or role that you are assigned. Being highly competitive, it is in her nature to push herself to think as innovatively and critically as possible. She cannot wait to see how creative delegates are and how in character they are able to become.

Mohammed Ahmed (Co-Chair Director, Bonaparte Family Dinner)


    Mohammed is a first year student studying computer science. He joined Model UN because he found it very engaging in high school and it was a great way for him to meet a variety of people. He also loved the different roles that he was able to assume at conferences. His favorite committees are always crisis committees because of the number of creative ideas that always seem to come from them. Plus, performing under pressure has always been his strong suit! He is looking forward to co-chairing this committee and seeing all of your thoughtful answers.

Madison Henson (Chair, KGB)


  Madison is a junior majoring in Marketing and truly enjoys the problem solving and critical thinking skills that she has gained from Model UN. Her favorite aspect of Model UN is the crisis committee where creativity and strategy are not only encouraged but necessary. In her free time, she enjoys playing the guitar, sports and going on adventures.

Chloe Hamby (Co-Chair, KGB)


   Chloe is from Douglasville, Georgia and a sophomore here at the university. She’s pursing a major in Political Science and a minor in Philosophy. She intends to go to law school so that she can become involved in politics in the future. She enjoys debate and loves everything she’s learned from Model UN thus far.
